Poor Sisters
by Darryl ini really felt for you sisters i mean i really did.
when you showed up at the sunday meeting and found out the subject of the talk was going to be -and i can't quite remember the exact wording- but something to the effect of marriage and headship, or honoring and obeying your husband, or something like that how many of you wanted to jump right back in your car and head home.
i mean 45 straight minutes of beating down you poor ladies and telling you that you are not worthy of making one decision, taking the lead in anything, don't question the man be obedient and keep quiet.

"But WHY??"
by stuckinarut2 ina thought struck me.
as young children we were known for often asking the question "but why?
" to anything and everything that we were told and presented with in life.

None of us a JW but my kids loved that WHY word and I either found the answer. Finally they got to the age "research it".
But in the parting email from the "Elder" he said you research Everything and Fight Everything. You do not take anyone's word on any topic.

Yes, this is sickening, we have even stopped our annual meeting to allow paramedics in to take care of one our "Sisters" or "Brothers" we actually LOVE each one of them and honestly are concerned for their wellbeing. The meeting CAN wait!! What pray tell is that important over the well being of a LOVED sister or brother?

Wannaexit,
You and I were typing at the same time. Never a JW, so these people call each other Brother/Sister but if they fall over sick in a meeting no one really notices? A couple of attendance will get them to the back of the Hall all others just carries on.
You know when the "Elder" kept telling me the way I read the Bible the organization you belong to falls under the Babylon blah blah I sure wish he would talk to me today, he most certainly would get the lecture of a lifetime. Because if this would occur in our Lodge room during a meeting, the meeting would be stopped our sister or brother would be tended to and NOT until 911 has left the premises would our meeting resume. This is ludicrous! ! They show NO compassion whatsoever for their fellow brothers and sisters NO wonder they can automatically SHUN people at the drop of the hat because they don't give a cxxp for the person sitting right next to them. Did I read or hear this was a loving organization BULL!!
Sorry rant over.

I am so sorry for the loss of your friend.
Slidin Fast
He continued and it was his "WIFE".
OK, I was never a JW, besides all the threads on child abuse, wife abuse and shunning this has got to be about the most heartless thread, I have read.
No wonder the "Elder" continually told me over 5 years that I had the most caring sensitive and forgiving heart he had ever met. After reading some of these stories I am beginning to think these people do not even have hearts.
His WIFE really, someone should have gotten up there and smacked some sense into him. Was he not married in the name of God/Jehovah in sickness and health is he not to be by her side?
Are JW just stupid robots?

Can JWs Use Corporal Punishment On Their Children?
by minimus incan a parent slap or use a "rod of discipline" on their kids?
i know it's politically incorrect and perhaps illegal, but is it a personal decision based upon the scriptures or is it taboo these days?.

Vanderhoven7,
Oh those terrible two's. My kids were six years apart and when my daughter hit that two year mark her 6 year old brother towered over her. We just could not get her to stop biting. Tried everything but her favorite target was, at the perfect height for her petite size, her brother's stomach. Well one day he had ENOUGH saw her coming grab her arm and placed it right in the target area and she bit herself, she came crying to me. BINGO, like majic it worked she never bit again. Solved by a six year old.

What turned out to be my step dad (found this out when I was 60+) died when I was 12. That is when I got all my wonderful adopted step dad's at least that is what I called them. They just all hung out at our house. Two of them owned this great big place at Rehoboth Beach and all of us would go there every weekend and party, it was an absolute blast. These were the ones who taught me manners, etiquette, how to set a table fit for a queen, one even taught me how to drive in his Lincoln (I was scared to death). One even taught me how to put on make up, he took me clothes shopping h... he looked better in a dress then I ever would dream of. I loved all my gay daddys and they protected me from my mom.

spiritual
by stan livedeath ini read the word "spiritual" sometimes on the site.

Stan,
Never a JW. I so do not want to answer this because the atheist on this forum are going to pipe in. I have nothing to say to them.
With that said I am 65 and at the age of 50 I walked away from Religion because I realized at that point it is all man made. I still strongly believe in God and feel a very strong connection with God through daily devotion. I also do not believe the Bible is the word of God. Just written by men claiming it to be the word of God. A question I have asked many times since making this decision is: If God had created Religion how many Religions would he have created? I believe in a loving and caring God who wants all of us to get along with one another. I do not blame God for all the suffering that goes on in the world as I did not blame God when I lost my son nor when I had cancer.
I have always felt a very spiritual closeness with God because of the troubled life I have lived and I felt only he was the one that carried me through those times. I feel he walks beside me in the good times and carries me in the bad times.
My faith in God keeps me from getting depressed during some mighty tough adventures. He keeps me going for the brighter tomorrow which does come.
